Chinon, France

The area around the city of Chinon is rich is wine history.  Our main reason for coming to the central Loire river valley was to taste some of the amazing wines made from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc as well as experience this small historic city.

We visited three wineries:  Plouzeau, Couly-Dutheil, and Cave Monplaisir.  All three wineries had wonderful wines with grapes all within the Chinon area.  The Plouzeau and Cave Monplaisir tasting rooms are in caves where the wine is aged and stored.  Even with the outside temperature close to 80 degrees the caves were all around 50-55 degrees all year long.
